Members of Society Acting in Cooperation

Food
One of the best perks of living at MOSAIC is the food! The
co-op offers an optional vegetarian meal plan that’s tasty, cheap, and convenient.
Please note: We currently do not have an active meal plan but if enough members are interested we would love to reinstate it! Despite no longer making communal meals, many members still eat dinner together many days of the weeks, some even cooking together independent of a meal plan. People often make food to share with the house and going a week without the offer of something delicious is nearly unheard of.
Meals
We have communal dinners four nights a week. We take extra care to make a meal plan that accommodates different dietary needs. Currently all of our meals are vegetarian. We intentionally make extra servings to provide food for leftovers. In addition to being convenient and delicious, co-op meals are a great opportunity for “family time”!
Dietary Needs
All food purchased through the co-op’s meal plan is vegetarian. However, you don’t need to be a vegetarian to live in MOSAIC! Many of our members are omnivores. Everyone can purchase and cook their own non-vegetarian food, and we do not judge those who chose to do so. Additionally, we make sure to provide options for members with other dietary restrictions (allergies, gluten intolerance, etc).
How It All Works
The meal plan is entirely run by us, the members of the co-op! As part of our chore system, we divide up responsibilities for purchasing food, cooking meals, and cleaning up the kitchen. Since everyone comes to the table with a different culinary background, we’re all able to sample a wide variety of different cuisines — and learn to be better cooks along the way.
We have excellent cooking facilities, with plenty of large kitchenware, exhaustive spice racks and communal pantry staples.
