How to Apply
Please Note:
We are accepting applications for four rooms, two starting August 1st, 2025, and two starting September 1st, 2025. Rooms' total rate including utilities and shared food/supplies are from $659-$734.
In order to be considered for membership to MOSAIC, you must:

Fill out our online application.

Complete a virtual interview with a member of MOSAIC.
Once you’ve submitted the application, we’ll send you an email to arrange an interview. We’ll make sure to give you an opportunity for an interview within one week after you’ve submitted your application. If you have any questions about this process, please contact us.
Criteria for Admitting New Members
These criteria define preferred traits/qualities/abilities/etc. that we prefer a member of the Treehouse community to have. These are by no means definite criteria for individuals to be accepted and voted in; rather, these qualities should put the applicant in higher consideration than other applicants who do not meet these criteria:

Has the ability to pay agreed-upon rent (or can abide to payment plan). Members should not discriminate based on the method of income.

No violent crimes

Align with MOSAIC’s values and can put them into practice

Willing and able to do administrative duties

Understands or is open to learning about intersectionality

Can make weekly meetings

Align with the DAN and COVID policies

Values sustainability
You do not have to be a student to live in MOSAIC. We do not discriminate in accepting new members on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, presence of children, age, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, gender identity, order of protection status, source of income, whether a person was once homeless, or unfavorable military discharge.

After You’ve Been Accepted
Once you’ve been accepted, we’ll email you to congratulate you and officially offer you a spot in the co-op. You’ll be sent a member contract to sign, which is a lease with MOSAIC. At that point, you’ll have a limited timeframe to ask questions and sign before we release your spot and offer it to someone else. You can always turn down your offer of membership.

Contract Periods
We offer yearlong member contracts (leases) from July 1 – June 30. The contracts are divided into four separate quarters, roughly aligned with Northwestern’s academic calendar.

The contract periods for 2025-2026 are:

Summer: July 1 – August 31

Fall: September 1 – December 31

Winter: January 1 – March 31

Spring: April 1 – June 30

You may apply to live in the co-op during some or all of these periods, as well as for specific months of the summer quarter. However, we do generally give preference to people who can live in the co-op during the full academic year including Fall, Winter, and Spring periods.
